" I felt like I died a little inside"..

No, this was not uttered by a famous poet or writer; instead my fifteen year old daughter, Sarah, uttered these words to me the other night...

Instead of coming home on the van, like she is supposed to, she decided to stay after school for some event. Only problem was, she neglected to call me and tell me so. I drove around the area for the better part of an hour waiting for the call to pick her up from the usual van drop, and finally called the van driver at home, only to be told she was at some school event.

As the hours ticked by, I got angrier and angrier...until about 8:30pm or so when I finally received the phone call:

Sarah: " Mom, I am sooo sorry..like I totally forgot and it was school wide volleyball game and I was on the yellow team and we won..

Me: " You know I was worried and I drove around for an hour looking for you?"

Sarah: " Yes, Mommy I know and I am so sorry and I hurt you so much and I feel like I died a little inside for being so cruel.."

Me: "We will talk about this when you get home.."

Died a little inside, huh? Even for Sarah, that was original and amusing enough, I should add, that she escaped punishment...this time...

Keep them guessing...

Yes they are:) The years go by so very fast...I feel as if my daughter has grown up in the blink of an eye. Each year of their lives brings new challenges and accomplishments...to both of us!
